Job Summary: Responsible for Checking Guests In & Out, Posting Charges to Folios, Selling Guest Rooms for the Present and Future Dates, Operating Telephone Switchboard, Balancing Cash Drawer, Handling Guest Requests and Problems, and Act as a Center for Information about the Hotel and the Surrounding Area.
Minimum Performance
Standards: Ability to Properly Sell Reservations, Efficiently Handle guest registrations and payments, Send and Receive Fax, Operate Telephone Switchboard, Sell, Change, and Cancel Reservations, Generate, Read and Use Hotel Reports, Cash-In and Cash-Out, Handle Guest Inquiries, Complaints, and Perform Emergency Procedures.
General Duties:
Counts and verifies the cash drawer at the beginning of shift and cashes out and balances at the end of shift.
- Responds to guest requests and complaints quickly, efficiently, effectively, and pleasantly; directing them to the appropriate manager if necessary.
- Acts as switchboard operator by answering, transferring calls to appropriate office or guest room extensions, takes accurate and complete messages as needed.
- Sells guestrooms using the property management system as well as processing any changes or cancellations as needed.
- Responsible for processing advanced payments as needed.
- Is aware of daily, weekly occupancy at all times.
- Posts charges to folios – restaurant, phone, fax, laundry, etc, as soon as they are received.
- Gives accurate information and directions about the local area.
- Performs Pit Check at least once during the shift to determine the accuracy of information.
- Complete special assignments as requested by supervisor.
- Completes and signs off on shift log..
- Knowledgeable on the Hotel and surrounding area.
- Processes information to guests and other departments.
