Position Description
Ensure job’s surface preparation is complete per the specification, taping, including hand and power tool cleaning, pressure washing and abrasive blasting. Apply various linings and coatings to substrates including concrete & metal in heavy industrial locations. Position requires high school education or its equivalent. A general knowledge of worksite safety, painting, coatings and surface preparation or relevant experience in the construction trades is a major plus. This position works under general supervision of Project Manager & Lead Technician.
Key Daily Responsibilities:
- Pressure washing and/or cleaning to remove surface contaminants from substrates as directed according to safety procedures and project specifications dictated by Lead Technician and/or Customers.
- Follows and reviews all safety operating procedures.
- Assists in erecting scaffolding, rigging, ladders, man and scissor lifts and other equipment as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
- Duty of care to protect work area and client location with drop cloths, paper and tape during operations.
- Operates, cares for, cleans and maintains all coatings equipment, tools, vehicles and work site daily. Including; brush, roll, sprayers, pumps, etc. to remove loose material and safely storing and labeling all materials in approved storage location.
- Applying coatings to concrete floors/ containments
- Floor prep, grinding, cleaning, joint filling, vacuuming, and sweeping.
- Trowel-downs, coving, rolling, mixing, sealing, and taping.
- Knowing how to mix material properly, tracking and keeping up with material being used.
- Ability to learn and react quickly to properly perform the job.
Key Daily Accountabilities:
- Able to assess safety hazards on job sites & use best judgment in dangerous situations.
- Some experience with the use of various tools, equipment and products used in the painting and coating industry.
- Competency in basic math skills including geometry, measuring and reading a ruler.
- Ability to work well with a Project Management and Field team.
- Communicate effectively, while constantly displaying a service mentality to the company, clients, staff and other trades.
- Strong time management skills
- Inspecting all tools before use and reporting all damaged tools to Lead Technician.
- Ability to read labels, project specifications, SDS and other relevant information.
- Ability to observe, receive and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
- Able to work extended hours, weekends and holidays on occasions when required.
- Ability to travel throughout the Region with overnight stays as projects dictate.
- Attend training classes as directed.
- Must pass a drug test and random testing for customers.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, minimum of 10 hours per workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Must have a valid class C driver license and able to work throughout the U.S. as job requires.
