Job Summary

The 2nd Shift Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, integration and maintenance of all automated equipment at our Production Facility including the documentation of processes required to complete specific tasks. These responsibilities include installing, diagnosing and fixing programmable logic controllers and other devices that operate automated equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment. Understand and follow all QMC-EMI procedures (lockout / tag out, hot work, confined space, etc.) in addition to all other corporate and site-specific safety initiatives. Be proactive in the area of safety, including anticipating unsafe behaviors, conditions and unusual circumstances.
  • Make program modifications in PLC’s logic and servo controller logic to improve equipment performance.
  • Maintains automated equipment.
  • Ensures that automated machinery operates safely, dependably, and with precision; identifies and implements modifications to improve safety or performance.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting services for all controls systems.
  • Recommends, develops, and implements enhancements and improvements to increase production volume or precision in high-throughput operations.
  • Maintains documentation of development process, modifications, maintenance requirements, and other data.
  • Maintains knowledge of existing and developing technology and trends in controls.
  • Support cross-functional teams to achieve overall company metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in related field preferred
  • Minimum 1 year related experience
  • Relevant experience with Robotic troubleshooting and programming
  • Hands on work experiences with PLC programing automation experience is required
  • Ability to use tools and perform tasks such as soldering, welding, and metal cutting
  • Thorough understanding of electrical wiring and computer software engineering
  • Experience working with safety circuits for automated systems
  • Proficient with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create accurate drawings and schematics
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent mathematic ability
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Attention to detail
