Job Summary

The robot tech “B” is responsible to assist in the direction of the department with assistance from the robot tech “A”, robot leader and department supervisor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assist in the complete installation of robots from a single robot to multiple robot cells. Capable of writing complete programs including I/O commands. Repair and root cause problems to prevent reoccurrence. Troubleshoot equipment, such as Fanuc & Nachi robots and component feeders, and assist in departmental expansions. Troubleshoot cabinetry wiring problems and correct if needed. Assist in the development of robot upgraders.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all MIOSHA and ISO 9001/14001 requirements.
  • Remove and install robots and robotic cells
  • Robotic programming
  • Perform and record preventative maintenance as needed
  • Mechanical and electrical ability
  • Communication
  • An understanding of PLC logic
  • Set-up and maintain fixtures as required (shimming, clamps, pneumatics etc…)
  • Repair and replace equipment, fixtures, robots and/or materials as needed and required.
  • Keep open communication with other departments

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. College preferred.
  • Robotic and/or weld training (resistance and mig).
  • Various robot training through certified training facility preferred.
  • Weld training for various types of welding used by robots preferred.
  • Hi-Lo certified
  • Electrical training or certification preferred.
  • Must be willing to acquire tools as required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot resistance, mig, laser, projection, and drawn arc stud welding.
  • Ability to read and understand Logic.
  • Skilled in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and welding skills and tools to perform tasks.
  • Moderate skills in robotic programming a must (registry, I/O, styles and programs).

The majority of the time is spent on the shop/plant floor. It will frequently be necessary to spend time on the manufacturing floor in a shop environment where the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or equipment, loud noises, machining noise, warm temperatures, airborne particles, possible electrical shock, chemicals and fumes.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee sits, stands, and uses hands, arms and fingers to perform routine tasks. Normal vision and hearing is required.

Other Physical Requirements

  • Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs on demand.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to work in high stress, high speed, constantly changing environment
