QUALIFICATIONS:
The Field Intake Specialist travels to clients’ homes, hospitals, or other care settings to facilitate the intake process for behavioral health services. This includes collecting documentation, verifying insurance, completing assessments, and obtaining signed consents for treatment. The role bridges the gap between referral and care, ensuring a smooth and compliant start to services. Friendly and positive attitude, strong organizational and time management skills, service-oriented personality, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, efficient problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, great attention to detail, judgment, flexibility, commitment, and internal drive/motivation are necessary for success in this position. Demonstrated experience and/or skills at engaging adults in therapeutically oriented activities. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED certificate for an entry-level position. Must have an outgoing personality and some sales experience is a plus. This position will be located in Central Ohio area and not at the address listed above. Must be willing to travel within the State.
Training is usually done on the job, working with senior staff members. Some states require additional licenses or certification, depending on the nature of the job. Advancement is possible with a bachelor’s degree and years of insurance-related experience.
To be successful in this role, you should be detail-oriented to handle the often-complex requirements of insurance carriers. Strong interpersonal skills are essential whether dealing with other authorization coordinators, medical staff, or directly with patients. Exceptional time management and organizational skills are also imperative, as is staying current with healthcare regulations and changing insurance procedures. Must be versed in written and oral communication. Must be willing to travel the State of Ohio. Valid driver’s license required. Automobile insurance with minimum state liability amounts required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to clients or facilities to complete in-person intakes and obtain informed consent for behavioral health treatment.
- Explain services, treatment plans, and rights in a clear and compassionate manner.
- Ensure all required documentation is properly completed and filed.
- Coordinate with clinicians, case managers, and admissions staff to schedule services.
- Maintain accurate records and follow HIPAA guidelines.
- Serve as a liaison between the client/family and the behavioral health provider.
Qualifications:- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Healthcare, or related field preferred (or)
- Experience in behavioral health, intake, or case management preferred.
- Comfortable traveling regularly and working independently in the field.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient rights regarding treatment consent.
