Multicraft Technician in Commercial Construction

Job Description

Job Summary:

The QPS Multicraft Employee is a skilled and versatile professional responsible for performing a variety of tasks in commercial construction projects. This role requires proficiency in multiple trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general construction activities. The employee will work with their tools to ensure that assigned tasks are completed on time, within scope, and adhere to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• General Construction Tasks:
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Measure, cut, and assemble materials according to specifications.
• Perform framing, drywall installation, and finishing work.
• Install flooring, ceiling tiles, and other building components.
• Electrical and Plumbing Work:
• Install and repair wiring, fixtures, and electrical systems in compliance with codes.
• Assemble, install, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, and fixtures.
• HVAC Systems:
• Assist with installation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Maintenance and Repairs:
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in mechanical systems and building structures.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe working environment.
• Report safety hazards, accidents, or incidents promptly.
• Collaboration and Coordination:
• Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and other team members to achieve project goals.
• Communicate effectively to provide updates on progress and challenges.
• Assist in material handling and inventory management.
  

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction, with a focus on multiple trades.
  
  

Skills:

• Proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general construction.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various physical conditions (e.g., heights, confined spaces).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, and travel as required.
  
  

Preferred Certifications:

• OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
• Trade-specific licenses (e.g., journeyman in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC).
• First Aid and CPR certification.
