Position Summary:
As a Lead Mill Technician, you will take the lead during your shift to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of our soybean milling equipment that produces high quality feed grade soybean meal in our Safe Feed/Safe Food Certified facility. This lead position involves managing the entire milling process during your shift, being a mentor to team members, and ensuring the efficient production of high-quality feed-grade soybean meal. As a leader and experienced manufacturing technician, you will be expected to drive continuous improvement, optimize operations, and maintain the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency. With a strong mechanical background, this lead position offers an opportunity to identify opportunities and train others in troubleshooting minor to complex issues and maintenance interventions and ensuring the team’s adherence to safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Essential Job Functions:
- Lead the operations and monitoring of all milling equipment and processes during your shift
- Perform and train team members in routine and preventative maintenance on milling machines to ensure optimal performance
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve basic to complex operational issues without supervision
- Conduct and train team members to perform detailed quality tests on soybeans and finished products to maintain product standards
- Load and unload bulk truckloads of soybeans and finished products, ensuring accuracy and safety
- Take the lead in participating in safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure designated sanitary schedule and a safe work environment
- Ensure the team is completing the necessary paperwork required in the record keeping of production
- Train and mentor team members in Good Manufacturing Practices based on our Feed Safety Programs
- Perform other tasks, as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3-5 years of milling/manufacturing experience with progressive responsibility
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge and ability to perform and train others in preventative and minor maintenance intervention
- Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
- Proven track record of improving processes and maintaining a high level of safety and productivity
- Demonstrated experience in contributing to and leading a strong team environment
- Communicate effectively with management and cross-functional teams to report on production metrics and improvements
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to frequently bend, squat, climb, sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach above shoulder level, use fine finger movements and push/pull, carry/lift light to heavy loads up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to occasionally kneel
