Quality Staffing, Inc., also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search, a leading full-service employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the area's top companies, is looking for an experienced Testing Scientist to work through our agency as a contract employee with the Tennessee Department of Health (TN DOH) located in Nashville, TN. This is an on-site position working from 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm Monday through Friday for a total of 37.5 hours per week. The pay rate for this position is $39.00 per hour. Testing Scientist Job Description : This is a testing Scientist position working in the Environmental Microbiology section of the Public Health Lab. Under immediate supervision, the Testing Scientist will be responsible for routine laboratory work of moderate difficulty as it relates to microbiological and molecular testing. Duties may include first level troubleshooting, guidance to entry level staff and work of moderate difficulty. This is a position under clinical testing, and it requires 16 hours of Biology courses, 16 hours of Chemistry courses, 3 hours of Pre-Science Math, and 12 hours of Specific Biology; PCR testing experience is preferred. College transcripts MUST be provided to be considered for submission for the position. Duties and Responsibilities for Testing Scientist position will include : -Performing analytical methods of moderate to high complexity as outlined by testing section.-Prioritizing and organizing tasks to complete them in an assigned timeframe.-Monitoring test processes for adherence to quality control standards by comparing test results to known standards such as using positing positive and negative controls and acceptable appearance of diagnostic product.-Monitoring test equipment for proper functioning such as monitoring temperature, detecting malfunction alarms and recognizing incorrectly processed samples.-Preparing various types of specimens for examination by various diagnostic techniques.-Preparing and checking specimens, solutions, reagents and other materials necessary for conducting tests.-Communicating status of assigned tasks or other relevant information to supervisors or peers by telephone, in written form, email or in-person.-Using computers and laboratory information systems to process and access information, data, and control.-Documenting, entering, transcribing, recording, storing, and maintaining information in written and electronic form using notebooks, file copies, computer software, etc.-Identifying and initiating situations or circumstances with reagents and equipment for the purpose of troubleshooting.-Reviewing information from manuals, work instructions, flowcharts, and other reference sources to accurately analyze and report test results.-Using relevant or appropriate guidelines to determine whether test results are acceptable based on established laboratory policies and procedures.-Monitoring reagents and consumables to ensure an adequate supply for testing needs.-Rotating stock to minimize waste and expiration.-Performing preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment used in assigned area according to standard operating procedure.-Following standard operating procedures, maintaining situational awareness and proficiency with biological and chemical hazards.Minimum Education and Qualifications Needed for Testing Scientist position : -Have graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in life sciences (, biology, microbiology, or biochemistry), Medical Laboratory Science, pre-medicine, or other acceptable science.-Have a minimum of one year of full-time professional work experience in the Clinical Laboratory field (for this level scientist).-PCR Testing experience preferred.
