Job Description
Job Title: Material Handler - Hourly wage is based on experience.
Location: Richmond
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Yard Manager
Hours: Yard hours 7:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday - Friday
Job Summary
The position is responsible for receiving, maintaining, moving and loading products in the material supply yard.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Loads, unloads, and moves materials within yard or work site onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or by yard truck
- Bunking jobs by stacking or assembling materials into bundles and then bands bundles together using banding machine and clincher
- Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved
- Loads materials onto vehicles and install strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
- Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee
- Complies with QSI policies and procedures
Education and/or Experience
- Knowledge of building materials and building process
- Forklift certification with 90 days of employment is required by employer
- Any combination of job related experience and/or training, which would produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- QSI provides on-the-job training

- Ability to perform tasks accurately, effectively and in a timely manner
- Must be able to multitask, possess good communications skills
- Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to work under time constraints
- Ability to interface with customers, suppliers, sub-contract crews and personnel
- Ability to maintain file systems
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately
- Ability to safely perform major job responsibilities with reasonable accommodations
Weight & Lift Requirements
- Must be able to lift at least 80lbs repeatedly
- Lifting anything >100lbs requires additional personnel and utilizing a dolly or forklift if possible
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
