POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of a Logistics Supervisor is to direct and manage the delivery routes and responsibilities completed by Drivers. The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Drivers deliver finished product and pick up soiled product at our customer locations (hospitals and healthcare facilities) in a timely manner. This is a hands-on position, which may require the Logistics Supervisor to fill in for Drivers as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate daily activities with Production Supervisors, Plant Manager, and General Manager.
- Determines the most efficient order of delivery and prepares schedule showing order to be followed.
- Ensure all drivers receive proper instructions and a list of scheduled deliveries for the day.
- Ensure all laundry pickups are accounted for with a signed delivery and receiving slips from drivers. Track and log delivery information.
- Drives a continuous improvement culture with zero preventable customer complaints.
- Perform route audits to ensure drivers are servicing accounts per QTS guidelines.
- Ensure all driver concerns are logged and tracked through the use of Driver Request Forms (DRFs). Escalate DRFs to Plant Manager as necessary.
- Ensure drivers maintain vehicles, including cleanliness of cabs and disinfecting trailers and box trucks transporting soiled linen.
- Enhances standard operating procedures of the logistics department.
- Ensure compliance of SOPS by coaching, mentoring, and counseling drivers through the use of progressive discipline.
- Understand, observe and adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
- Hold weekly safety meetings with drivers and ensure attendance rosters are correct.
- Performs post-accident reports of driver involved incidents.
- Complete all other driver requirements for position, including:
- Collect finished carts by rolling the carts from Load Building area to back dock.
- Load the delivery truck by pushing the carts onto the back of the appropriate truck.
- Deliver clean linen carts to customers.
- Transport soiled linen back to plant.
- Follow all federal, state, and local requirements according to D.O.T. rules and regulations.
- Follow all OSHA rules as apply to blood borne pathogens.
- Must be able to adapt to change and unscheduled events.
- Assist and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a Class-A driver’s license and clean driving record.
- High School Education, GED and formal education / training preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge and the willingness to learn new computer applications.
- Good analytical skills to be able to determine the number of carts required for orders.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or service industry
- Ability to work in a noisy fast paced environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and reach for individual items for long periods of time during loading and unloading of truck.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds during loading and unloading of truck.
- Constant reaching for individual items and stacks of items during loading and unloading of truck.
- Ability to push or pull a cart that may weigh 300-400 pounds for up to 60 yards.
- Demonstrated customer service and organization skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to work in and out of weather conditions.
