Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pathology Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pathologists by preparing and examining tissue samples, assisting in the diagnosis of diseases, and ensuring the accuracy of laboratory results. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as experience working with children and students in educational settings.
Duties
- Prepare and process tissue specimens for examination by pathologists.
- Assist in the gross examination of specimens, documenting findings accurately.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure timely delivery of results.
- Provide support to students and children during educational activities related to pathology.
- Utilize knowledge of IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) to assist students with special needs.
- Engage in early intervention strategies for pediatric patients.
- Participate in speech therapy sessions as needed, providing insights from a pathology perspective.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience working with children or in school settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of pediatrics and early intervention practices is beneficial.
- Familiarity with IEP processes and requirements is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and support students.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous experience in a pathology or laboratory setting is advantageous but not required.
