Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator
Quality Tool is a growing contract manufacturer of metal components for Fortune 500 and other successful companies. We are searching for a full-time Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator candidate to join our St. Paul Energy Park Office team. The ideal candidate will be energetic; detail oriented and well organized and has a passion for promoting environmental health and safety in the workplace. In this role, you will be required to train employees on safety policies and practices, conduct regular inspections, generate health and safety assessment reports, and ensure that all occupational guidelines and regulations are adhered to. To be a successful EHS coordinator, you should demonstrate a detailed knowledge of health and safety regulations and strong leadership skills.
Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator Responsibilities
- Maintain environmental health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and accidents.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate and provide training to employees on safety regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials, use of personal protective equipment, emergency preparedness, and other safety-related topics.
- Investigate and analyze incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and provide recommendations to management for corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Compile safety data and report findings at monthly management meetings.
- Maintain and update (MSDS Online Database) safety data sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used in the workplace, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and disposal.
- Develop and implement emergency response programs and conduct drills to ensure employees are prepared for various emergencies.
- Manage and maintain all safety-related documentation, including incident reports, safety training records, safety manuals, and policies.
- Work Compensation reporting; filing First Report of Injury etc.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new regulations, and best practices in environmental health and safety. Recommend and implement changes to policies and procedures as necessary.
- Collaborate with other departments; operations, and HR Management, to ensure workplace safety is integrated into all aspects of the organization.
- Act as the primary contact for relevant regulatory agencies and participate in inspections, audits, and investigations.
- Responsible for Environmental and Regulatory Compliance requests that come to the facility from customers such as but not limited to: REACH, RoHS, and Conflict Minerals.
- Other duties may be assigned based on business needs
Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator Required Skills
- Excellent knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies.
- Strong understanding of occupational safety principles, hazard identification, risk assessment, and control methods.
- Ability to develop and conduct safety training programs for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and developing effective corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to employees, management, and regulatory agencies.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage and maintain safety documentation and records.
- Problem-solving skills to identify potential hazards or risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Proficient in using safety management software, databases, and other relevant tools to track and analyze safety data.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field preferred but not required
· 3 years of experience in environmental health and safety, with experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
· Excellent knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and EPA regulations
· Strong understanding of occupational safety principles, hazard identification, risk assessment, and control methods
· Proficient in conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and developing effective corrective actions.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage and maintain safety documentation and records.
· Problem-solving skills to identify potential hazards or risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
