Technical Training Consultant Part-Time (Remote Contract Role)

The ideal candidate for the Consultant position will learn to anticipate, develop, and implement innovative solutions for our customers’ training challenges. The scope of work includes the full range of ADDIE/Systematic Approach to Training activities, with a heavy emphasis on analysis, design and development work. The Consultant also will become proficient in our proprietary training management software, the Quality Training Database (QTD), and use our applications to deliver products and services to our clients across the US and Canada.
This role requires a deep understanding of various technical domains, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable training materials. The Technical Training Consultant will work closely with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to ensure that training programs are effective, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals. The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, providing feedback, and making necessary adjustments to improve learning outcomes. Additionally, the Technical Training Consultant will stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure that our training programs remain current and relevant. This role requires a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Duties and
- Working virtually with a team to complete project tasks, assuring quality of deliverables, and tracking time
- Working independently while understanding the necessity of communicating and coordinating work efforts with team members
- Working remotely/virtually with client subject matter experts to collect data for job analysis, training needs, performance requirements, operating procedures, technical systems, processes, and other related information
- Organizing data and entry into our flagship software program, Quality Training Database
- Providing quality data entry support to the QTS Consulting team
- Ability to work virtually from a home office or other professional environment free from auditory or visual distractions; location may be anywhere within the continental United States
- Part time 20-hour work week with occasional after hours or weekend scheduled Work hours for this position are based on Central time zone during regular business hours: 8am-5pm CT, Monday through Friday
- Hourly Range: $30 to $35
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Engineering, Instructional Design, Technical Writing, or related field.
- Three to seven years of experience in training analysis, design, and/or development work, including experience with designing training courses and/or programs to meet client needs; experience with technical writing or procedure writing a plus
- Develop training materials including lesson plans, on-the-job training guides, tests, performance assessments, , consistent with the principles of adult learning theory and instructional design theory
- Leverage eLearning tools and technologies (e.g. Articulate, Captivate) to develop and enhance training materials
- Ability to analyze and logically organize complex technical information, and transform complex bodies of information into professionally designed, engaging and effective training
- Ability to work well in a team environment or individually on projects
- Ability to apply discretion and trust with confidential material
- Ability to effectively apply analytical and problem-solving skills
- Can work independently, self-directed with excellent time managing skills with the ability to multi- task and meet deadlines, shifting to meet client needs when required
- High attention to detail
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
