Description
The Metrology Reliability Engineer establishes specifications, creates, and controls validation and verification procedures and tools, monitors metrology of product lines, determines causes of metrology limitations, and improves the measurement capabilities of products. The Metrology Reliability Engineer reports to the Director, Quality, within the Quality department of QVI, and will help ensure that the team has the tools and skills to ensure our products meet customer promised specifications.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Supports the operations and quality team with primary emphasis on metrology performance specifications and verification procedures for use in product manufacturing and outgoing inspection.
· Controls the status and distribution of released QVI software products.
· Maintains and updates the specification database as required from changes in product technical datasheets, engineering change notices, and changes in product configuration.
· Maintains, develops, and generates software application and machine configuration specific inspection routines for specification verification.
· Maintains, reviews, updates, and creates ISO documents.
· Provides training and support for manufacturing and inspection groups including analysis and recommendations for resolving issues related to metrological specifications.
· Processes requests for deviations to specifications and exceptions to the software distribution process.
· Works collaboratively with various departments including Manufacturing, Inspection, and Engineering.
· Applies physical principles and analytical skills to understand the factors that impact machine repeatability, reproducibility, and accuracy.
· Documents experimental procedures, analysis, and conclusions.
· Analyzes historical verification data for product lines and reports on performance and trends.
· May support sales or service areas of the company for difficult problems.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology required (mechanical, metrology, optics, or electro-mechanical emphasis preferred).
· Experience and proficiency in statistical application with designed experiments.
· Python programming language experience is desirable.
· Strong problem-solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to write clear and concise technical reports and procedures.
· Ability to apply statistical methods to design of experiments and analysis.
Physical and/or Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time (8-hour shift) in an office setting, utilizing standard office equipment (computer, keyboard, computer mouse, phone, etc.)
- Ability to occasionally move about and navigate through the workplace.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects of 10-15 pounds.

Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
