Overview
We are seeking a Distribution Lead to be responsible for overseeing, coordinating and managing daily operation of water distribution system. This includes supervising crew, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and maintaining utility infrastructure. This role involves both fieldwork and administrative responsibilities to provide exceptional service to communities in WV. Position is hourly, full time with benefits. Compensation will be determined by qualifications, distribution experience and education, not less than $22/hr. This position is eligible for a one-time hiring bonus of $1,000 to begin within 31-days.
Duties
- Working crew lead for Distribution System Operators.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all day-to-day operations of water distribution system.
- Assign and monitor crew activities such as valve exercising, hydrant flushing, leak detection/repair, and routine system maintenance.
- Ensure all work follows industry best practices and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), documenting and updating with any needed changes.
- Train and mentor Operators in Training (OIT) to ensure adherence to processes and proper customer service.
- Provide backup or relief support for operators during time off.
- Be available for emergency call-ins as needed.
- Attend and contribute to monthly operational meetings with clients as needed.
- Generate and submit weekly and monthly reports to Supervisor.
- Communicate immediately and effectively with supervisor and office staff on any operational issues impacting public health, employee safety, utility infrastructure, or client satisfaction.

Requirements
- Strong knowledge of water distribution systems, materials, and proper maintenance techniques
- Ability to utilize SCADA software and applications to monitor system status
- Working knowledge of chlorine analyzer and other system equipment such as pumps, motors, etc.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics required, working knowledge of GIS mapping software preferred
- Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, especially in emergency situations
- Competence using maintenance management, inventory tracking, and Microsoft software
- Ethical, dependable, high integrity
- Superior time management and multitasking capability
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or equivalent GED Certificate required, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- State issued Water Distribution System Operator Certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in utility distribution system required with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Must hold valid vehicle driver’s license, free of violations
- Ability to pass drug and background screenings required
- Current CDL preferred
