Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Service Technician Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level position is perfect for someone eager to start a career in the window and door service industry. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced Lead Service Technician, who has over 30 years of expertise, to learn the intricacies of servicing, repairing, and installing windows and doors. This is a hands-on role that offers extensive on-the-job training, with the goal of preparing the apprentice to eventually take over the responsibilities of the retiring technician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Service Technician in the installation, repair, and maintenance of windows and doors.
- Learn to diagnose issues and determine the appropriate solutions for various types of window and door systems.
- Perform basic tasks under supervision, such as measuring, cutting, and fitting materials.
- Help maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, adhering to safety standards.
- Participate in training sessions to gain knowledge about different window and door products and service techniques.
- Provide excellent customer service, representing the company professionally at all times.
- Document work completed and parts used, maintaining accurate records.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Basic understanding of hand and power tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Previous experience in construction, carpentry, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of window and door systems is preferred, but not required.
- Relevant technical or vocational training is preferred, but not required.
