Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Workday Payroll Testing Consultant to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in processing US payroll using Workday and strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll testing methodologies.
This role will be instrumental in supporting payroll configuration testing, UAT, regression testing, and ensuring compliance with federal and state payroll regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Execute payroll test scenarios for Workday implementations, enhancements, or support projects.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate Workday payroll configurations align with business requirements.
· Work closely with payroll operations, HR, Time Tracking, Benefits, and technical teams to validate configuration and data flow.
· Conduct detailed payroll testing for critical payroll elements including Earnings, Deductions, Taxation (federal, state, and local), Retro Pay calculations, Off-Cycle Payments, Terminations, and other payroll-related processes.
· Validate payroll results for accuracy and compliance with US federal, state, and local tax regulations.
· Review payroll calculations to ensure alignment with business policies and statutory requirements.
· Support parallel payroll runs and reconcile differences against legacy systems.
· Develop and assist in documenting detailed test plans, test cases, test scripts based, expected results, and test execution status on requirements and specifications provided by product managers and developers, focusing on the Workday Payroll and module.
· Conduct functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, and performance testing to identify defects and ensure software stability.
· Troubleshoot payroll issues and coordinate with technical teams for resolution.
· Participate in defect triage and resolution during testing cycles.
· Provide knowledge transfer and support during go-live and post-production phases.
Required Qualifications:
· Strong understanding of Workday Payroll, Compensation and HCM functionalities and configuration and Workday payroll processing workflows.
· Experience in creating test scenarios for complex payroll elements such as Retro Pay, Gross-to-Net calculations, Taxable Benefits, etc.
· Ability to perform parallel testing and reconcile Workday payroll with legacy systems.
· Knowledge of US payroll regulations (FLSA, state and local taxation, garnishments and Benefits).
· Hands-on experience processing payroll in Workday Payroll.
· Experience in payroll testing including UAT, regression, and parallel testing.
· Familiarity with tools such as Smartsheet, JIRA, ALM, or ServiceNow for defect tracking and test management.
· Prior involvement in full-cycle Workday Payroll Transformation Projects and Implementation.
