Position Title: Sales Executive
Salary Range: $85,000 – $100,000 based on experience with commission available
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Job Type: Full-time
Responsibilities:
The Sales Executive will play an important role in helping to acquire new customers, generating revenue, and delivering on the brand promise of the company for our specialty crops portfolio. This position will sell in to our Alternative and Other Crops portfolio which includes: Ornamental Plants (with an emphasis on Roses), Fiber Plants (with an emphasis on Industrial Hemp), Medicinal Plants, and/or Conifer Plants (with an emphasis on the forestry, paper, and pulp industry). Aggressively pursues new customers for plant orders and the molecular plant diagnostic services segment within our alternative and other crops market.
· Discover, inherit, qualify, and pursue leads through cold calling, networking, or other lead generation methods to establish contact and secure meetings with customers who are qualified and would benefit from our products and services
· Deliver a contract and close the deal as quickly and efficiently as possible
· Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Marketing to ensure accurate and timely delivery of products and services
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Plant & Soil Science, or Agriculture
· 5 years’ demonstrated sales experience
Experience & Skills:
· Master’s degree in Horticulture, Plant & Soil Science or Agronomy preferred
· Agricultural, greenhouse, horticulture sales experience with a history of success selling to commercial growers, plant breeders, and nurseries in the USA with emphasis on the West Coast (Global sales experience is a plus!)
· Demonstrated possession of an existing network of grower and nursery relationships in the defined Alternative and Other crop portfolio as previously described
· The ability to establish productive business relationships quickly and efficiently
· Deep knowledge of the challenges and opportunities faced by growers in the agricultural and horticultural market
· Strong work ethic and sense of urgency to find and close the deal
· The ability to build relationships and communicate effectively
· The ability to lead the charge for sales, yet collaborate internally to provide the best customer experience
· Ability to present to customers and industry in-person and/or via remote video (zoom)
· Strong communication skills verbal and written
· Ability to multi-task and handle multiple leads, accounts, and other facets of a hectic, fast-paced work environment
· Self-directed and independent worker
· Competencies in MS Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Must have a valid driver’s license and able to lift 50 lbs.
Work Location: This is a remote role and focused on the agriculture market in primarily in Western United States. This person will need to be in Central/Eastern Washington. This position will have extensive local and regional travel on a regular basis.
