About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Relay Technician/ Field Operations Specialist to join our Protection and Control Field Services team at Qualus. This role will involve leading teams that perform testing and routine maintenance of Transmission and Distribution substation power equipment, relaying, pilot channel equipment, controls, and communications.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repairing substation relaying and control schemes. They will also possess strong knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power system protection and control schemes, test equipment, and interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and planning test activities efficiently, on time, without service interruptions.
- Providing project technical support to field service personnel.
- Testing and verifying all voltage and current inputs to relays, metering, calibrating relays, and trip testing.
- Performing routine troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
- Strong knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power system protection and control schemes, test equipment, and interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, business acumen, management ability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
