Responsibilities
** This position will be based out of our Reno, NV office **
- The Senior Utility Project Manager will manage projects consisting of solar and geothermal energy interconnections, greenfield utility substations and transmission lines, and some utility water projects.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners;
- Work with engineering project teams in the coordination of project documents and drawings;
- Support in the development of project proposals;
- Coordinate overall conceptual design plans in the initial development phase of renewable energy and battery storage projects specific to utility interconnections;
- Coordinate environmental permitting as needed with clients, agencies and staff;
- Assist clients with competitive bidding processes for steel structures, long lead electrical equipment and substation construction activities;
- Mentor less experienced staff on a wide range of technical and project management skills;
- Provide quality control reviews (or coordinate quality control reviews based on skill level) at all milestone points of project documentation to ensure project consistency through IFC;
- Work with renewable energy developers and other clients with support specific to schedules and cost estimates;
- Coordinate the physical, protection & control, and structural design of substations and transmission lines, including the coordination of Designers, Drafters, and Engineering activities to ensure project schedules are met;
- Track and report on budgets, and work with clients as needed;
- Prepare schedules as needed and coordinate with team members and clients on schedule impacts;
- Generally, keep management apprised of project status and report as needed to clients, agencies, and team members. This often includes facilitating monthly or bi-weekly team meetings and issuing meeting notes.
Qualifications
- The Senior Utility Project Manager is expected to bring an advanced level to knowledge of everything involved to complete a project design from start to finish.
- Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering or other Degree with proven Utility experience
- Minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience including experience with Utilities
- Strong competence in applying theories and principles involved in project management
- Must bring common sense to the job along with a strong work ethic.
- High attention to detail
- Customer service orientation
- Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office, and proficient with scheduling (MS Project or Primavera P6 preferred)
- English reading and writing proficiency
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and demands
