Introduction
The DPAA’s mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel to their families and the nation. The agency’s vision is a world-class workforce that fulfills our nation’s obligation by maximizing the number of missing personnel accounted for while ensuring timely, accurate information is provided to their families. DPAA is working to develop a high performance digitization capability that will allow critical files, documents, and/or images of objects (e.g., dog tags, personal effects) etc. to be stored electronically and declassified, to ensure information is accessible to the proper communities involved in the search and return of missing persons. This support ranges from the Korean War till current endeavors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct initial declassification reviews in support of Government agency
- Analyze unclassified and classified documents to determine the appropriate action needed in accordance with E.O. 13526
- Demonstrate understanding of document markings
- Utilize analytical skills to make determinations on documents for release, referral to other agencies, and exemption from Automatic Declassification and/or Mandatory Declassification
- Recognize and protect Personally Identifiable Information
- Recognize possible nuclear weapons and intelligence information
- Properly handle boxes and documents (boxes can weigh between 15-25 lbs.) and ensure integrity of each and every box remains intact
- Employ technical and computer literacy for digital workflow
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field; or
- Military experience equivalency; or
- Minimum of two years of experience and knowledge relating to Declassification and E.O. 13526
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with ability to acquire and maintain SCI
- Ability to pass a Historical Records Restricted Data Reviewer Course
- Ability to communicate effectively – both orally and in writing
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills, reading comprehension, and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, and adjust to established work patterns and processes as required
