Primary Objective of Position :
The Box Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of Woodcraft products in such a manner that promotes and maintains excellent customer relations.
Responsibilities :
This description represents the most significant job duties but does not exclude other work duties that may be assigned as needed.
- Receives direction from the supervisor and notifies the supervisor when more work is needed.
- Maintains the work area, machinery, and tools in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Follows all safety procedures, rules, and guidelines; and notifies the supervisor of any existing or potential safety issues.
- Follows all standard operating procedures and notifies the supervisor of potential procedural improvements.
- Assists in other work areas when the workload permits or requires.
- Cooperates with and supports co-workers and gets involved as a team player.
- Meets or exceeds the production standards for the position.
- Accurately, thoroughly, and legibly completes all documentation related to this position; i.e., production reports, accurate time keeping, etc.
- Observes closely the operation of tools and machinery and notifies the supervisor immediately of malfunctions or maintenance that may be needed.
- Monitors product constantly to ensure that quality standards are being met, and rejects product that does not meet quality standards.
- Participates in scheduling and routing with the supervisor.
- Conducts safety and maintenance checks on trucks and trailers.
- Performs routine maintenance on units as required; i.e., oil change, etc.
- Reports maintenance problems to Maintenance Department and schedules outside maintenance as needed.
- Maintains the appearance of vehicles through routine washing.
- Operates forklift as needed.
- Loads trucks and trailers in a safe and logical fashion.
- Ensures that loads are secured properly and that the load complies with all highway limitations and regulations.
- Ensures that loads are protected when needed; i.e., tarps.
- Locates delivery points and confers with customer as to where deliveries are to be made.
- Assists in unloading as needed.
- Obtains necessary documentation from customers.
- Forwards documentation to Woodcraft office.
- Completes and maintains all documentation in accordance with ICC regulations.
- Performs related work as required.
