Role : Data Governance Specialist
Job Description:
Candidate will have hands-on experience in data governance standards, principles, processes and procedures to build, implement and manage for financial or banking organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement data governance frameworks, standards, and procedures to ensure data privacy, security, quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Implement the Data Governance and Data Protection business plans within the organization and control of data risks.
- Ensure adoption and compliance with data policies on data classification, security, privacy, and other regulatory requirements for data protection regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA) and establish practices to safeguard data privacy and security.
- Monitor and assess risks related to data security and compliance, proactively addressing potential vulnerabilities.
- Manage access controls and data permissions, ensuring sensitive information is protected and accessible only to authorized personnel.
- Manage data lifecycle processes, including data acquisition, retention, archiving, and deletion practices.
- Knowledgeable with metadata management, data lifecycle, and other data management subject areas such as Master & Reference Data Management, Data Migration & Integration Governance, Document & Content Management, etc.
- Provide training and support to data users across the organization, enhancing data fluency and adoption of data governance principles.
- Designing and implementing data organization governance (steering committee, data councils, etc.); identifying roles (e.g. data owners, stewards, etc.) and defining responsibilities
- Consult & support business and technology stakeholders in understanding data governance and data management driving enterprise data maturity and developing data strategies. Act as an overall SME in data management.
- Engage domain data leaders and practitioners in identifying data problems and use-cases that can fuel operational reporting, analytics and/or overall data-driven decision-making. Support the domain data leaders in implementing a data governance framework that aligns to enterprise strategy, policy and regulatory requirements and follows data management best practices.
Skills
- 6 years of experience in Data Governance and Master Data Management.
- Experience in establishing and enforcing data governance, especially data protection.
- Complete knowledge and implementation experience of Banking & Financial insinuations data standards, information data protection, information security policies, guidelines and the regulatory environment.
- Experience in facilitating the design of the process that enables data registration along with classification for new data to be ingested.
- Strong knowledge on data governance frameworks, Global and US data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and compliance requirements. US data privacy acts or International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certification - CIPP, CIPM or CIPT (IS A PLUS) or DAMA certification preferred.
- Proficiency in data management tools and technologies like Alation, PKware, Atacama, Talend is desirable
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Information Management/security, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Ability to work with key business and technology stakeholders to develop and implement solutions to ensure that appropriate data privacy standards and practices are in place
- Leads gathering, refining, documenting, user acceptance testing, and coordination of Data Governance and Privacy requirements.
- Supports the data classification and mapping of data elements to mandated categories per State laws.
- Experience with Databases (i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Amazon S3) and ETL tools.
- Knowledge on proactive data monitoring processes for data classification for the data that already exists
- Writing policies around management data security and classifications
