Position Summary:

The Automation Process Engineer is responsible for end-to-end processes related to CCBU operation; develop processes and identify the equipment required to establish best in class manufacturing operation in parallel with defining routings, physical and systemic process flows. The Engineer will be responsible for the identification, evaluation, selection, procurement, and qualification of automated equipment utilized in the CCBU Operation; develop and implement process improvements to improve product and process quality, output, cycle time, productivity and equipment downtime.  Support new product introduction and processes into production. Develop the process for the introduction of new products and changes to operations.  Resolve daily production issues with short and long-term solutions.  Identify and implement new methods or equipment aimed at improvements in yields, turnaround time, reliability and costs.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads physical and systemic process improvement projects including the direction of project teams to support continuous process improvements. Includes but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing implementation, DOE.
  • Responsible for the setup and integration of automated equipment into the production processes.
  • Responsible for evaluating current process and working to develop and implement process improvements on an on-going basis to ensure optimal efficiency and quality.
  • Validate and test process effectiveness and improvements through the use of normal engineering techniques, design of experiments, data analysis and statistical analysis.
  • Provide leadership in customer quality and efficiency efforts by working with support teams to improve cycle times and reduce defects.
  • Develop proven flows and operator work instructions.
  • Perform Cost Analysis & provide Cost Improvement ideas for the production.
  • Ability to perform Time Studies across all areas.
  • Train appropriate personnel in all aspects of the facility; as it pertains to processes, procedures and automated equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement – drive quality improvement, productivity improvement, scrap reduction, and other cost reduction efforts, through process improvement initiatives.
  • Problem solving – investigate and recommend solutions for production, service and product related quality, manufacturing or process issues.
  • Utilizes technology to improve, streamline and automate manufacturing process
  • Plan, implement, set up and monitor equipment used to automate manufacturing process.
  • Develop and design automation concepts, choosing and programming a controller and ensuring the proper communication between the actuators connected to the controller. simulating, installing, testing and managing electrical or mechanical automation and finally monitoring the automation processes on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop measures of process control
  • Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance procedures
  • Document production processes
  • Identify process capabilities and limitations and make Recommendations and implement process improvements.
  • Investigate and quantify the manufacturability and serviceability of new and existing products.
  • Work with product development engineers during and after product introduction to improve product performance.
  • Troubleshoot and solve various manufacturing and service problems. 
  • Other duties as assigned by management. 


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of related manufacturing or industry experience with automated assembling equipment.
  • Small component electro/mechanical manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of development and improvement of work processes related to electro-mechanical assemblies preferred.
  • Knowledge of design and implementation of engineering experiments.
  • PC skills including Windows, MS Work, MS Excel, MS access, AutoCAD or related software.

  • This is a FULLY ONSITE position; mut be able to report onsite daily.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with multiple languages.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Excellent organization and presentation skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Computer literate in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to operate independently in multiple locations.
  • A team player that can also work efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and employees and to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Ability to function and execute in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Creative problem-solving ability.


Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stand/sit for prolonged periods, move about production and warehouse facilities with concrete floors for long periods.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and use/view a computer for prolonged periods, up to 8 hours/day.
  • Ability to speak into and use a telephone for prolonged periods, up to 8 hours/day.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including internationally – travel required is minimal – less than 10%.
  • Position is in a normal office setting but also includes time spent in warehouse/production environment as needed, some areas are not temperature controlled.
