ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS/DUTIES:
- Interface with utility and construction personnel on a daily basis
- Accurately design distribution equipment and facilities
- Input customer, project, and billing information, and maintain customer communications
- Ensure safety, construction standards and local regulations are met
- Consult with Engineers and other personnel to prepare design drawings and modifications as required
- Prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material from engineering documents associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of various engineering projects
- Prepare scaled work order maps using computer aided design software such as AutoCAD/ Map3d, Blue Beam, ArcMap
- Draw map(s) using the correct mapping symbols, call-outs, decals, proper tie downs, etc
- Implement Engineering redlines with accuracy and completeness prior to completing the drafting/drawing
- Complete engineering functions and calculations based on field information and redlines quality control/ Engineering (i.e., cable pulling, voltage drop, flicker, utilizing station sheets, etc.)
- Input pole loading information in software based on field information, and provides possible resolution to structure
- Prepare joint utility use authorizations based on field information and redline from the Engineer
- Consult with Engineers and other personnel to prepare design drawings and modifications as required
- Additional duties as needed and/or assigned
- Work a minimum of 40 hours a week on a regular basis, up to 50 hours, with possible OT
- Ability to read an interpret tech specifications
- Working knowledge of Power Distribution engineering software tools are highly desirable and preferred
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models (PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation)
- Familiarity with local regulations and guidelines
- Experience in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations
- Familiarity with design codes and standards such as WAC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC
- Familiarity with construction & constructability practices, principles and standards
- Demonstrated experience with drafting and design practices and related engineering practices
- Demonstrated experience reviewing rough sketches, drawing specifications, and creating conceptual drawings in computer aided design software
- Demonstrated experience finalizing engineering product drawings with critical dimensions, performance specifications, and quality specifications in compliance with design standards and procedures
- Demonstrated experience conducting quality review on designs, checks for inaccuracies, omissions or compliance issues and providing recommendations
- Ability to demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills
- Detail oriented
- General computer skills (email, Microsoft Office)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 Years Industry or Trade Experience in lieu of education
