PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Management of daily operations of Quality Assurance department including Auditors and Quality Technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision
Supervises Quality Technicians and Quality Auditors. Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of these staff.
Conducts Performance Evaluations for QA staff based on both personal observation as well as objective data. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies including interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints (both internal to and external to the quality department) and resolving problems.
Responsible for training of quality staff, and evaluating effectiveness of training. Training should be evaluated by both objective and subjective measures.
Responsible for coordinating work schedules and personnel assignments to match needs based on current volume, shipment/production schedules and other factors (such as particular models needing special heightened attention).
Responsible for evaluating staffing needs, and balancing workforce size and hours versus production plan in coordination with the Sr. Manager of Quality.
Coordinates with other departments when special projects, sorting, or rework is required due to a quality issue (in coordination with the Quality Engineers and Sr. Manager of Quality).
Manages employee time in accordance with established procedures.
Ensures all employees have access to adequate tools and equipment to properly perform their duties (in cooperation with the Quality Engineers and Sr. Manager of Quality).
Safety
Maintains a safe work environment through safety training for employees, identifying hazards in the work place and correcting them, and providing discipline, when necessary, for violation of Company safety rules.
Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment by identifying all safety hazards and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university (preferably in Engineering, Math or Science) and 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory experience.
Previous experience with third party quality system certifications such as ISO 9001 is preferred.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and suppliers.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
Computer literate in a Windows Environment: Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, Internet Explorer, etc.
Detail oriented.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy.
Analytical abilities.
Good organizational skills.
Self-motivated with ability to use own initiative.
