Desktop Support Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a knowledgeable, experienced Desktop Support technician with a high aptitude for customer service to work at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in La Grange KY. Candidates must also be experienced with desktop support, including installing, troubleshooting, and repairing devices in a Windows-based environment. Along with desktop duties, the candidate may be required to assist with security cameras, servers, and network switches. This position will provide desktop support to the staff within the Correctional Complex, but will also interact or be among the inmates as they are used for work detail, etc.
Qualified candidates must maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to lift and carry heavy objects or work in uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time. The candidate must be able to pass a background check and extensive drug test prior to starting. We hold training once a month, that can last up to three weeks. This training teaches them how to work, adapt, and conduct themselves in a prison atmosphere.
LOCATION: La Grange, KY (Luther Luckett Correctional Complex)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair desktops, laptops, and other IT equipment in a Windows-based environment.
- Provide technical support to internal staff, ensuring timely resolution of hardware and software issues.
- Configure and maintain hardware, software, and peripherals to meet organizational needs.
- Assist with security camera systems, servers, and network switches as needed.
- Maintain detailed documentation of technical issues, resolutions, and equipment inventory.
- Educate and assist users in understanding and operating IT equipment effectively.
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and procedures within the correctional facility.
- Work in an environment where interaction with inmates may be required.
- Lift and transport heavy IT equipment as necessary.
- Attend mandatory monthly training to ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-3 years of IT experience as a Desktop Support technician with experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues with hardware and software systems.
- Experience in hardware and software installation.
- Experience with hardware and software configuration.
- Experience providing general desktop support duties with excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to assist with security cameras, servers, and network switches.
- Able to provide desktop support to internal staff.
- Customer service skills.
- Able to simplify explanations so that the customer understands.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
