Position Overview:
Our Truck Driver position will be a key part of our USPS mail operations team in BWI.The person hired for this position will transport containerized USPS mail from the BWI airport to our off-property sorting facility and then back to the airport.We have regular full-time and part-time positions available, requiring the safe and secure movement of our customers goods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
*Operate and navigate company-owned or leased vehicles in excess of four tons including tractor/trailer/tanker, forklift and mechanized equipment;
*Document, record, and track all required log sheets IAW, FMCSA, DOT and Quantem Aviation Services, Inc requirements;
*Knowledge of local major and minor roadways and the ability to effectively use maps and direction for efficient travel routing;
*Identify, troubleshoot and service devices, parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical principles;
*Service truck with fuel, oil and other fluids and perform preventative maintenance to tractor-trailer;
Required Skills and Experience:
*High school diploma or equivalent;
*Clean driver's abstract;
*Must possess CDL Class A License
*Successful completion of the SIDA airport badging or background check process is required for this location.
*Minimum two years' commercial driving experience;
*Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor vehicle maintenance;
*Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
*Ability to read and interpret written communication and reports;
*Sitting while driving for long periods of time in possible inclement weather;
*Ability to use hands and arms to install, position, move and manipulate items;
*Ability to climb, balance, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl and handle materials;
*Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
*A valid driver's license is required for this position.
Work Environment:
*Position requires sitting and driving for long periods of time.
Physical Demands:
*Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms;
*Able to speak and hear efficiently.
