Business & Data Analyst – Data Catalog & Governance
A leading global investment firm is seeking a Business & Data Analyst with 5-7 years of hands-on experience in data catalog software to drive data governance initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and catalog management efforts. This role requires deep expertise in Collibra, Alation, Atlan, or similar platforms and offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic team that balances the agility of a smaller firm with the scale of a global financial institution.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Project Management
- Lead scoping and requirements discussions with internal stakeholders on data cataloging and classification.
- Prioritize data domains and products to enhance data accessibility and governance.
- Partner with InfoSec and data domain owners to develop and track project plans.
- Conduct regular reviews of project status, deliverables, and key stakeholder updates.
- Develop deep expertise in the firm’s data warehouses, associated datasets, and usage.
- Configure, manage, and optimize user access levels within the data catalog platform.
- Provide training and hands-on guidance on data classification processes and platform usage.
- Document software improvement needs and collaborate with vendors on enhancements.
- Oversee project releases, stakeholder training, and internal communications.
Data Analysis & Governance
- Leverage deep experience with data catalog platforms to manage and improve data classification and governance.
- Perform data analysis to support governance initiatives and strategic data-related decisions.
- Guide software vendors on data sourcing for key deliverables.
- Work closely with internal Data, Cloud, and Security teams on cross-functional projects.
- Identify data owners and stewards to strengthen governance responsibilities.
- Conduct testing of software configurations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage project releases, stakeholder training, and internal communications for data initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5-7 years of hands-on experience with data catalog software such as Collibra, Alation, Atlan, or similar (Required – this is a critical must-have).
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field, engineering, or a related discipline (Preferred).
- Knowledge of investment management, financial services, or asset management (Highly Preferred).
- Proficiency in SQL for data analysis (Required).
- Strong understanding of data governance concepts and frameworks.
- Proven project management experience, including coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
