Position Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Machine Learning Scientist with a strong background in information retrieval and natural language processing (NLP) to help lead our AI initiatives. This role involves designing and implementing advanced machine learning models, with a focus on natural language data, in a high-impact production environment. You'll also oversee one direct report, contributing to both hands-on model development and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities :

Design, develop, and deploy machine learning algorithms for processing and retrieving information from complex natural language data sets.
Apply information retrieval techniques to enhance data extraction and content classification, optimizing models for high accuracy and performance.
Utilize NLP frameworks to build and fine-tune models that drive the startup’s AI solutions in production.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven features into existing platforms.
Provide guidance and mentorship to a junior team member, offering both technical direction and professional development support.
Experiment with and potentially implement symbolic AI and explainable AI (XAI) models to improve model transparency and decision-making processes.
Continuously improve system performance by conducting experiments, tuning hyperparameters, and optimizing model architectures.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, ML, and NLP, applying new research to current projects.

Qualifications :

4-10 years of experience in machine learning and information retrieval, with a focus on natural language data.

Proven track record of deploying ML models in production environments with a high level of performance and scalability.

Expertise in Python, including proficiency in libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.

Familiarity with symbolic AI or explainable AI (XAI) approaches is a strong plus.

Strong understanding of machine learning pipelines, from data preprocessing to model evaluation and deployment.

Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, with an emphasis on natural language models (e.g., BERT, GPT, Transformer architectures).

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating leadership and collaboration skills.
