Rail Operations Associate

Job Summary

Rail Yard Operators are responsible for Safe movement and placement of Rail Cars, for communication with Rail Techs for Blue Flag clearance into loading locations as well giving track locations and for all interplant Rail Switching per instructions from Rail Coordinator. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that all work is done in a safe manner and that all safety rules take precedence over any other work. It is your responsibility to maintain a safe working environment for you and all employees. This includes identifying safety hazards, avoiding unsafe work, and problem solving.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

This job includes the following duties and any other as assigned by current manager:

• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Participate in all safety meetings.
• Operate all interplant rail movement adhering to A&R Terminal Railroad Operating Procedures and Safety Rules.
• Ensure total customer satisfaction.
• Complete daily inspections of equipment.
• Must be knowledgeable on how to use all equipment necessary to complete any task given daily.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the switching locomotive and rail track areas.
• Communicate any problems or concerns you may have with equipment or processes.
• Immediately acknowledge and/or accept responsibility for damage to product, equipment, etc.
• Inspect railcar couplings, brakes, air hose and junction boxes, rail tracks, and the Locomotive/Rail King.
• Adhere to and enforce all company policies.
• Responsible for taking direction from Manager/Supervisor and/or Railroad Coordinator.
• Responsible for any other duties as assigned by management.

While performing the responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear.
