Job summary
Reporting to the Sr Manager of Safety and Compliance, The Safety Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting the Regional Safety Manager in their assigned region. The Safety Compliance Specialist will be responsible for working in the transportation safety software platforms. DQ, HOS, Lytx, Geotab etc. To ensure regional compliance with FMCSA. At times will work with Terminal Managers on safety and compliance overview or guidance,
Summary of essential job functions
This job includes, but is not limited to, the following duties assigned by current manager:
- Ensure compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations and ensure company compliance of same
- Conduct, and coordinate FMCSA safety-related audits. DQ, HOS etc.
- Assist the Sr. Manager of Safety, through investigations, with the audit program.
- Assist in developing, recommending, and executing changes needed with current programs including, but not limited to DQ, HOS training.
- Assist drivers in troubleshooting ELD-related malfunctions.
- Stay current with new initiatives, work through ongoing system issues, and implement change when needed
- Communicate with Regional Safety Manger on driver issues.
- Assist in monthly reporting.
- Have a good understanding of all of the safety platforms used regularly.
Minimum requirements
Superior interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, interact tactfully and practice flexibility
Transportation experience (trucking is a plus)
Associates degree (not required but a plus)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Strong problem solving, organizational, time management and analytical skills
Proficient in full suite of Microsoft Office products
