Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (General Construction) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering projects on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is a mix of office-based planning and field-based execution, offering a dynamic and rewarding work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and owners to develop and execute detailed project plans, budgets, and construction schedules.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure construction work aligns with design specifications, industry standards, and all relevant safety and code regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of competitive project proposals, including scope development, quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, and scheduling.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Track and report project performance metrics; identify potential delays or cost overruns and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections to uphold strict standards of workmanship and material compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, as-built drawings, meeting minutes, submittals, and daily field reports.
- Provide technical guidance and support to field teams to resolve constructability issues and ensure efficient problem-solving.
- Support the management team in enforcing safety protocols and promoting a culture of job-site safety and accountability.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Wrike, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with project scheduling tools (ex: Microsoft Project) and cost-control processes.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, building materials, and regulatory codes.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with diverse project stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel within and outside of Indiana, as required by project demands, and own reliable transportation.
