In this role, you will provide essential physical therapy services to elderly residents, helping them maintain or regain their mobility, independence, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of residents’ physical abilities, including mobility, strength, balance, and coordination.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each resident’s needs and goals.
- Provide hands-on therapy treatments, including manual therapy, exercise regimens, and assistive devices as appropriate.
- Educate residents, families, and staff about effective therapy techniques, injury prevention, and the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide a holistic approach to resident care.
- Ensure that all therapy interventions comply with regulatory requirements and best practice standards.
- Provide education and training to nursing home staff to promote safe mobility and care practices for residents.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Physical Therapy (Doctor of Physical Therapy or equivalent).
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (or the ability to obtain).
- Experience working with geriatric populations, preferably in a nursing home or long-term care setting.
- Strong knowledge of age-related physical changes and common conditions in older adults (e.g., arthritis, osteoporosis, stroke recovery).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with elderly patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including assisting with patient transfers and mobility.
