Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: At the discretion of the overseeing clinical provider, in combination with the Porter Cardiology Practice Manager, the Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for the performance of echocardiograms.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Maintain echocardiography services in accordance with standards established by the American Society of Echocardiography as well as State and Federal agencies.
- Daily technical operation of the laboratory.
- Working with the Medical Director, medical staff and technical staff to ensure quality patient care.
- Perform echo exams on patients as ordered by physicians with first priority given to trauma and critically ill patients.
- Select proper ultrasound techniques to provide optimum quality ultrasounds.
- Position and instruct patients regarding procedures.
- Review and agree to abide by the Porter Medical Center Compliance Program.
- Back up studies.
- Copy studies to disc as needed for review.
- Adhere to Porter Hospital and Cardiology Department policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintain equipment and supplies.
- Maintain required records, documents, and statistics.
- Participate in both in-service and out service professional educational programs.
- Attend cardiology department meeting
