Responsibilities
- System Integration & Architecture:
- Understand all components of the roadside tolling system—from vehicle detection hardware (cameras, sensors, controllers) to backend processing systems.
- Create and maintain system diagrams, data flow maps, and integration documents.
- Support integration of new hardware, software, and third-party systems, ensuring compatibility and compliance.
- Evaluate system design for scalability, redundancy, and reliability.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure seamless system integration and operation.
- Stay current on industry standards and recommend technical improvements.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve hardware, software, and system integration issues.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting support, including log analysis and equipment diagnostics.
- Work closely with vendors, field technicians, and IT teams to coordinate technical fixes.
- Document incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend long-term solutions.
- Preventative Maintenance:
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance plans for hardware and software components.
- Schedule and support regular inspections, updates, and system checks.
- Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues.
- Provide technical guidance to field teams for consistent maintenance execution.
- Support planning for system upgrades and equipment lifecycle management.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with project managers to align technical tasks with project schedules and deliverables.
- Coordinate with vendors, field teams, and internal departments to support system installations, integrations, and troubleshooting.
- Clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain accurate documentation, status updates, and reports on system health and maintenance activities.
- Share technical knowledge with team members and support cross-team learning.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, or efficiency.
- Analyze system data to detect trends and recommend preventive actions.
- Research emerging technologies and industry best practices to support system innovation.

Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years’ experience in systems engineering, ideally within tolling, transportation, or ITS industries.
- Strong knowledge of hardware (sensors, cameras, controllers) and software (processing, databases, networking).
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with integrated systems.
- Experience developing preventive maintenance plans and supporting incident resolution.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in tolling systems or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
- Familiarity with NTCIP, ISO standards, DSRC, or similar protocols.
- Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls) and monitoring tools.
- Systems engineering certifications (e.g., CSEP, PMP).
