Job Title: Equipment Operator

Salary: DOE ($30.00/DOE)
POSITION SUMMARY:
As an Equipment Operator specializing in wood chipping, backhoe, and Bobcat Masticator operation, you will play a crucial role in our operations. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery to support our projects, including land clearing, trail maintenance, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Woodchipper Operation:
- Operate woodchippers to process wood debris into manageable chips.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the woodchipper, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the woodchipper to ensure optimal performance.
Bobcat Operation:
- Operate a Bobcat equipped with forestry tools, such as grapple attachments, masticator, mulchers, and brush cutters.
- Utilize the Bobcat to clear vegetation, remove debris, and maintain trails in forested areas. - Safely transport materials and equipment to various job sites using the Bobcat.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while operating equipment and performing duties.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on machinery to identify and address any safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize hazards and ensure a safe workplace for yourself and others.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with team members to coordinate equipment operations and achieve project objectives.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Assist other crew members as needed to support overall project goals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be assigned as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must adhere to tribal drug and alcohol policy.
- Must have a valid Driver's License and be insurable by the Tribe.
- Proven experience operating woodchippers and Bobcats in a forestry or similar environment.
- Proficiency in safely operating heavy machinery and equipment, with a strong focus on safety and precision.
- Knowledge of forestry practices and techniques, including land clearing and vegetation management, is preferred.
- Ability to interpret maps, blueprints, and job instructions to effectively carry out tasks.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform strenuous physical tasks in various weather conditions.
- Stamina and endurance to work long hours outdoors in challenging terrain.
- Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, and in potentially hazardous environments.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of forestry practices and techniques, including land clearing and vegetation management.
