The Strategic Sourcing Buyer is responsible for the development and implementation of sourcing and procurement strategies, assessing supplier risk, and balancing inventory levels adequately against demand to meet production schedules.
Essential Functions
- Develop supply chain strategies – create and implement strategies for sourcing materials and services domestically and internationally that align with business objectives.
- Identify new supplier opportunities for assigned projects and negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, etc., to bring the best overall value to the company.
- Assess and mitigate risk within the supply chain to ensure continuity and stability.
- Identify and develop process improvements within the supply chain by continuously improving techniques, methods, and approaches to procurement strategies.
- Manage inventory levels for phase-in/phase-out opportunities for assigned product categories.
- Participate in new product development process for the introduction and release of new products.
- Actively manage product changes into production plans.
- Coordinate with inventory buyers and supply chain leaders to identify and reconcile constraints, supply shortages, and their impact on customer fulfillment satisfaction (e.g., parts shortages, backorders).
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure suppliers meet and exceed quality standards and lead supplier performance appraisals.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain operational SOPs.
- Other duties assigned by management.

- Bachelor's degree in a Business, supply chain management, engineering, or related field and/or 5 years of experience in procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain Management.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Expertise in MS Excel required.
- Experience managing critical supplier relationships in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
