Responsible for operating press breaks on the machine. Fits and fabricates structural steel, completes layout, and inspects finished product.
Laser operators use laser cutting machines to slice through metal, plastic, or other materials to create finished goods. They are responsible for loading raw materials into the laser cutter, monitoring its performance, and troubleshooting any issues. The laser machine operator position safely performs laser cutting for various manufacturing products.
Essential Functions

- Perform typical laser cutting operations.
- Select proper cutting programs and proper fixtures.
- Establish proper stop location and adjust laser beam focal point.
- Make proper set-ups for cutting operations.
- Perform prescribed maintenance as required.
- Perform all dimensional inspections.
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor.
- May perform a variety of other tasks as production needs require.
- Load and unload raw materials and equipment
- Set up and calibrate accessories and equipment
- Operate a forklift
- Perform necessary maintenance and cleaning of equipment
- Supervise machines as they run and adjust as needed
- Inspect the finished product to ensure it meets the required specification
- Ability to work 4 : 00 p.m.- 2 : 15 a.m., Monday - Thursday, and Mandatory OT when required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other departmental positions.

Positive team-based attitude and a willingness to cross-train on machinery in the fabrication department
Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance and 51 to over 100 pounds with assistance.
Work near moving mechanical parts.
Walk, talk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and work around fumes or airborne particles
Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.

No travel is required.
Required education and experience
High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be at least 18 years of age
Minimum 2-3 years of CNC experience
Forklift experience required
Ability to lift and move 75 lbs. or more
Two or more years of Press brake, laser, and lathe experience
