Market Coordinator Job Description
The Market Coordinator is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and break down of the market.
It is a physical, hands-on and roll-up-your-shirt-sleeves position that works outside, rain or shine, in close collaboration with the Executive Director, and market-day volunteers. This role is ideal for someone looking to learn about farmers market management and support Queen Anne
Famers Market’s (QAFM) mission to build community, support farmers, and champion local.
Key Responsibilities - “WHAT” of the job
Health, Safety & Security:
- Provides a healthy, safe and secure market environment.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Directs individuals, both volunteers, vendors and market-goers proactively, when necessary.
- Addresses and reports injuries and accidents immediately.
- Assists the Market Director with health and safety checks
Operations:
- Sets up and breaks down each market.
- Maintains the market grounds, including recycling, composting and waste programs.
- Manages Information Tent including SNAP/EBT, Fresh Bucks program, WIC
FMNP other food access programs.
- Oversees at-market merchandise sales.
- Builds effective working relationships with vendors, volunteers, staff and market- goers.
- Drives the market’s truck, safely loading and unloading equipment from storage to the market site.
Vendor Management:
- Supports Market Director with vendor check-in, compliance, and checkout.
- Assists with site marking as needed
Human Resources:
- Trains, directs, and retains market-day volunteers.
- Ensures compliance vendors, volunteers, staff and market-goers comply with COVID-19 protocols.
Administrative:
- Tracks market-day performance metrics.
- Maintains market-day records and reporting, as assigned
- Attends QAFM Board meetings and other meetings, as needed.
Financial:
- Adheres to QAFM financial and cash-handling standards and procedures.
- Monitors and achieves all assigned budgets.
Advocacy, Marketing & Development:
- Supports PR, event and development initiatives, as needed.
- Uses smart phones/camera equipment to capture market scenes and products.
- Builds strong relationships with key QAFM stakeholders, including market-goers, volunteers, staff, local businesses, community leaders, city officials and property owners bordering the market.
Other Responsibilities:
- Oversees market when Market Director is absent.
- Takes responsibility for other assigned projects and tasks, as needed.
- Develops knowledge, skills and abilities to become a Market Director.
- Understands responsibilities will evolve as QAFM’s needs change.

Key Requirements - You have the ability to:
- Work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions.
- Maintain professional customer service demeanor at all times
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Lift 50 pounds safely and regularly.
- Maintain a current King County Health Department Food Handlers Permit and First
Aid/CPR Certification.
Compensation, Hours and Benefits
QAFM offers competitive wages ranging $21-$24/hour. A $20 meal stipend is provided on market day.
Regular work hours are typically from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm (10-12 hours) on Thursdays from May 29 to October 9. In addition, you will need to be available to work:
- An employee and vendor orientation, as well as pre-opening day set up and training will be scheduled the week of May 1
- QAFM special event days on Saturdays May 10, October 25 and November 22
