There are no set days or hours per week. This is an unskilled labor position at County Transfer Stations.Under general supervision, performs miscellaneous physical tasks in support of the Countys solid waste management systems.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvides cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.Directs individuals to appropriate areas to deposit various types of solid waste and recyclables.Provides assistance to customers with disposal as necessary.Understands and executes proper waste disposal and recycling requirements.Advises the general public of acceptable disposal practices.Communicates effectively with employees and the general public.Completes necessary forms summarizing daily collection data.Maintains Transfer Station buildings and grounds, picks up trash and keeps site clean and organized.Operates compactors, balers, and other equipment.Assists with recycling pick-up routes.Performs other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESLANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers written in English.Ability to print and speak simple sentences.##MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.Ability to perform these operations using standard units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.REASONING ABILITYAbility to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.Ability to learn the rules and regulations associated with solid waste.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSPossession of a Class C Maryland Motor Vehicle Operators License (or the equivalent from another issuing state) or the ability to obtain such a license within thirty (30) days of employment to position.##EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEA High School Diploma or a GED is preferred.##PHYSICAL DEMANDS []{style="color : rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87); font-fami"}
