Responsibilities
- Providing personal care services to assigned patients and addressing their needs promptly
- Evaluating safety needs of patients and utilizing equipment safely and effectively
- Offering personal care, including bathing, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linens as needed
- Assisting with dressing and undressing patients as required
- Preparing and serving nutritious meals, including shopping and feeding patients as necessary
- Monitoring and recording vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered
- Providing proper skin care and observation to prevent tissue breakdown over bony prominences
- Reporting patient condition changes and significant events to the Case Manager
- Providing respite care for patients, family members, or caregivers as needed
Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- Certification as a nurse aide by the state
- Current CPR Certification
- Listed on the state aide registry with a clear record and able to provide care to patients
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort level in providing specialized care to terminally ill patients
