Histotechnologist - Pathology (Full-Time, 40, Day)

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Performs histologic techniques, routine and special staining and preparation of cytologic specimens.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Standing, sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
  • Continuous : static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent : walking, twisting body, reaching above and at shoulder level, repetitive arm / hand motions.
  • Occasional : standing, stooping / bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting weight of 10 pounds up to 50 pounds.

    • TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, communicable diseases and other hazardous materials.
  • Exposure to fumes from formaldehyde, xylene and alcohol.

    • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE :

  • Current certification as Histotechnician HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).

    • EXPERIENCE :

  • One (1) year recent work experience as a histology technician desirable.
