RESPONSIBILITIESI. JOB SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for transporting patients, assisting with patient preps and positioning, and performing other duties such as processing instruments, restocking supplies, and cleaning equipment according to prescribed procedures.II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Essential : standing, walking, stooping / bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting weight up to 19 pounds; transporting patients on gurneys; carrying usual weight of 25 pounds; reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm / hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
- Occasional : sitting, crawling, walking on uneven ground.
- Operates razor, clippers, restraints, gurneys, mop or housekeeping equipment, ice machine, addressograph, pneumatic tube, autoclave, ICU beds, hypothermia unit / pad, Sequential Compression stockings and unit, Baer Hugger, Roller, Bovie unit / pencil, telephone, slider.III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS :
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Exposure to blood products, body fluids, secretions, patient diseases, chemicals and materials typical in surgery.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : A. EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE :
- Ability to read, speak and understand English.
- General academic background necessary to understand basic asepsis and sterile techniques.
- Current certification in BLS / HCP.B. EXPERIENCE :
- Experience as transporter and / or patient care preferred.
