Queen's North Hawaii Community Hospital is searching for a Clinical Operations Nursing Supervisor for our Family Birthing Unit in Waimea, Big Island.
Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital is a 35-bed rural acute care hospital located in Waimea (Kamuela), Hawaii Island. More than 300 employees and over a dozen employed physicians staff the main hospital, as well the outpatient clinics.
The Family Birthing Unit is comprised of 5 private labor and delivery suites, 1 triage room, 3 postpartum overflow beds & a level 1 nursery. The Family Birthing Unit is a low-risk OB unit but is equipped to manage high risk stabilization until transport occurs. Nurses’ care for labor and delivery patients, postpartum couplets and stabilization of neonates until appropriate transport occurs.
North Hawaii Community Hospital is a Baby-Friendly designated hospital and offers a collaboration of Physician and Midwifery services.

JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervisor is responsible for daily operations of the nursing unit, and supervisions and support of personnel and patients. Includes administrative duties, and may include hands-on clinical duties and responsibilities. Assists in setting the standard of care in the department, consistent with the mission, vision and philosophy of Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital (QNHCH).
- Ensures operations and functions are in compliance with regulatory requirements and the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
- Participates in the administrative and operational management of unit(s) and area(s) assigned
- Serves as the manager of the department/unit in the absence of the Manager as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Current Hawaii State license as Registered Nurse.
- Associates degree in Nursing. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Depending upon area of assignment, specialty certification/training may be required.
- Current BLS certification.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.
- Prior supervisory/leadership experience.
