About the NICE Program
The Neighborhood Intergenerational Chore & Errand (NICE) Program fosters connections between youth and seniors to promote independent living and strengthen community ties.
- Seniors receive essential assistance with daily tasks such as laundry, grocery shopping, and prescription pickups.
- Youth participants gain valuable work experience, job training, and life skills, while challenging generational stereotypes through meaningful engagement.
Position Overview
We are seeking a committed and compassionate Program Aide to support senior clients with essential services while fostering meaningful intergenerational connections. This role is ideal for students passionate about community service, leadership, and relationship-building.
This position includes both remote and in-person responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Client Support & Community Engagement
Maintain regular communication with supervisors and assigned senior clients.
Assist seniors with grocery shopping, home supply errands, and prescription pickups while ensuring no-contact delivery when necessary.
Provide companionship through wellness calls, remote activities, and virtual events.
✔ Program Operations & Documentation
Accurately document client interactions and service updates using program tracking systems.
Complete required forms and submit documentation in a timely and organized manner.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
✔ Safety & Compliance
Follow QCH’s COVID-19 safety protocols, including the use of masks and gloves when required.
Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and ethical standards while supporting senior clients.
✔ Additional Duties
Encourage seniors to participate in intergenerational activities that promote social connection.
Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
✅ Required:
Must be currently enrolled in high school.
Must have valid working papers and provide clear reference checks.
Commitment to at least one year of employment.
✅ Preferred:
Two years of experience working or volunteering with seniors.
Experience working with diverse communities and individuals from different backgrounds.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.
Willingness to assist with errands, shopping, laundry, and administrative tasks.
Positive attitude, patience, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Availability for occasional morning, evening, or weekend meetings and trainings.
