The Queens County District Attorney announces a new position in the Domestic Violence Bureau: an immediate opening for a manager to help develop and oversee a proactive pre-arrest case enhancement program that prioritizes victim safety and allows us to identify and enhance the prosecution of high-risk domestic violence cases after a crime has occurred, but before the offender is apprehended.  The manager will supervise a team of felony and misdemeanor Assistant District Attorneys, detective investigators, crime victim advocates and analysts.  The team will coordinate with responding officers, domestic violence officers, detectives, and field intelligence officers to make sure that crucial evidence, including surveillance video, text messages, voicemails, and social media postings are preserved.  They will interpret data from a variety of sources, including NYPD, to help us focus and direct our efforts at prosecuting and suppressing domestic violence.  Finally, they will collaborate with our Crime Victim Assistance Program and partner agencies to ensure victim safety.

Among this manager’s responsibilities are:

  • Overseeing the implementation of an innovative pre-arrest enhancement program that prioritizes victim safety and offender accountability.
  • Supervising and managing a team of Assistant District Attorneys with varied levels of experience, detectives, analysts, and other support staff.

  • Supervising grand jury presentments.
  • Interacting with the Queens Family Justice Center partner agencies to address targeted high risk domestic violence cases.
  • Interfacing with other agencies including NYPD, the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender Based Violence, Safe Horizon, and the Department of Probation.

Qualifications: An interested applicant must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 9 years post-J.D. experience. The ideal applicant also has:

  • Extensive experience working with victims of domestic violence and conducting a trauma informed forensic interview.
