What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Interpreter position at Queens District Attorney's Office?
The Queens County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a full-time Spanish interpreter for its Grand Jury Bureau to assist with the preparation and presentment of criminal cases to a grand jury.
The Grand Jury Bureau Interpreter’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Qualified candidates must have at least a high school diploma or its educational equivalent. Strong preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of professional translation and interpretation experience.
Candidates must be court-certified and must have oral and written fluency in both Spanish and English.
Candidates must have the ability to multi-task, communicate effectively, be detail-oriented and have excellent listening skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
Applicants must be able to regularly work Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.

- Assisting assistant district attorneys with interviewing witnesses
- Translating during grand jury presentment
- Translating written materials or recordings from English to Spanish and Spanish to English
- Providing court testimony on translations and interpretations performed
- Assisting with other assignments, as determined by supervisors
