Hemodialysis Technician-Full Time
Queens-Long Island Renal Institute, located on the lobby level of the renowned Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation in New Hyde Park, New York, is seeking a Full Time Hemodialysis Technician to join our team of professionals.
QLIRI provides state-of-the-art in-center hemodialysis treatment for kidney disease patients. Our experienced interdisciplinary team of nephrologists and renal nurses offer chronic dialysis services in a comfortable and modern setting. KEY TASKS :
- Rinses, primes and positions all appropriate equipment, attaches all required tubing, connects appropriate dialysate solutions, calibrates and checks alarms, sets monitors and performs a system check
- Cannulates, initiates, monitors, and terminates dialysis treatments utilizing an established access in accordance with the Dialysis Center's Policies and Procedures
- Obtains blood samples and other specimens as ordered
- Spins and packs samples
- Cleans and disinfects equipment, disposes of disposable supplies as practiced by the facility
- Maintains a safe environment for patient and staff by following infection control procedures
- Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of the dialysis patient to the RN or Charge Nurse
- Maintains current knowledge of operation procedures and maintenance of new equipment
- Demonstrates competence in meeting the established standards of care in the Dialysis Unit
- Works as supportive and productive member of patient care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Promotes positive customer relations
- Monitors water / dialysate testing to provide safe and efficient dialysis treatment to patients
- Assures quality patient care by applying hemodialysis principles in practice integrating nursing implications specific to age, co-morbidities, and individual needs
- Executes procedures in using the Bicarbonate system
- Documents hemodialysis treatment appropriately in accordance with standards of practice
The ideal candidate will be a Certified Hemodialysis Technician, with 1 or more years of experience on a dialysis unit. All CCHTs must also maintain CPR Certification.
