ADJUNCT FACULTY: Physics

Job Description

Summary: The College of Arts & Sciences at Queens University of Charlotte seeks qualified candidates for part-time teaching needs starting Fall 2024 in Physics courses. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses and labs in introductory Physics. The ability to also teach courses in engineering physics (e.g., electronic and physical computing) is desirable. The selected candidate will work with faculty from our collaborative Mathematics and Physics Department, which is dedicated to innovative and inclusive teaching.

This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a master’s degree in Physics or related discipline
• Preference will go to candidates with prior undergraduate teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence.
• Commitment to cultivating learning environments that foster a sense of belonging for all students.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation) require ability to

• Remain in a stationary position, most of the time.
• Exchange accurate information with students, faculty and staff, frequently.

Work Conditions 

• Must be able to work in office environment while having contact with students, faculty staff, parents, vendors on any given day.
• Work has deadlines, multiple interruptions, high volume and can be stressful.
